IMPORTANT CURRENT AFFAIRS :27.06.2013

1. Kevin Rudd was on Thursday sworn in as Australia’s new Prime Minister, three years after his predecessor Julia Gillard ousted him in a similar showdown.

2. A Bengali writer, poet and journalist, Bankim Chandra wrote 13 novels and several satirical, scientific and critical works in Bengali.

3. Mongolia's president has won a second four- year term, providi...ng a mandate for his efforts to crack down on corruption and further integrate the landlocked north Asian nation into
international society.

4. According to survey conducted by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), India has retained its position as the world's third most attractive destination for
investment by transnational corporations (TNCs) during 2013-15.

5. Muthoot Finance got in-principal approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for establishing as well as operating White Label ATMs (WLAs). The White Label ATMs (WLAs) are
the ones which are not owned and operated by the bank but by another non-bank entity.

6. CAD touched a record high of 4.8 pc of GDP in 2012-13 on rising gold and oil imports, though still better than market expectation, bringing relief to the govt which is struggling to
arrest the sliding rupee. Current Account Deficit (CAD) which is the difference between the
outflow and inflow of foreign currency,
however, moderated sharply to 3.6 percent of GDP in the last quarter of 2012-13 fiscal after it touched a historic high of 6.7 percent in the
October-December quarter. It was 4.4 percent in the March quarter of 2011-12.

7. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will receive the United Nations Global Award for Public Service from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at a ceremony to be held in Bahrain on Thursday.

from India.
