1. London will host the ninth World Islamic Economic Forum in Octoberi. The first time that the event will be held outside of a Muslim country, as the British capital looks to become a global hub for Sharia finance.

3. At PMG Junction in the capital city, Kerala’s first all-women post office has opened its doors to the public. Its four employees, from the post master to the helper, are women. The post office will only be officially be inaugurated on Friday

4.Padma Shree Awardee Mahasundari Devi painting artist Mahasundari Devi died at a private hospital in Ranti, near Madhubani on 4 July 2013. She was renowned for her mastery over Sikki work, ‘sujani’ craft, clay work and paper macheapart from Mithila painting.

5. Douglas Engelbart, the U.S. inventor who was known as the father of the computer mouse died at age of 88.

6. The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to frame guidelines for regulating contents of manifestos. The Supreme Court also said freebies promised by political parties disturb the level playing field among players contesting the polls and vitiates the election process.

7. Marissa Mayer-led Yahoo has acquired email and address book management app Xobni,which is its third acquisition in recent days as it tries to revamp its online products and competes with internet giants Google and Facebook.

8. The US economy added a net195,000 new jobs in June which is much higher than market expectation.The unemployment rate held steady at7.6% in June, as per the data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The dollar jumped on the news and euro fell to $1.283.

9. Virat Kohli has been named as Indian Cricket team captain for the upcoming One-day series in Zimbabwe later this month as Dhoni has been rested due to his injury.

10. Young all-rounder Parveez Rasool has created history today by becoming the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be named in the Indian team as the selectors announced the ODI team for Zimbabwe tour.

11. Pakistan’s spinner Danish Kaneria has been banned for life by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for indulging in spot-fixing during the 2009 English county season.

12. World soccer body FIFA on 3 July 2013 again banned Iraq from holding any friendly football matches due to soaring violence, just three months after the ban was lifted.
